I grew up in the late 70s and the 80s. Like any girl, I had a collection of plastic hair clips in various colors. Back then hair clips were simple; they usually had the same shape and could hold only the front part of your hair or the bangs. Eventually hair clips got more creative; there were hair clips in the shapes of bugs and fruits. Hair clips also got longer and wider, they could hold more hair.

Today’s hair clips are so different. They’re called barrettes and some even have jewelry in them. There are hair clips with beads and crystals in them. There are also hair clips with semi precious stones. The hair clips are also much bigger now; they can practically replace a pony tail.
