Clippers are to barbers as knives are to chefs. Electric clippers utilize different sized detachable blades or plastic guard attachments to cut hair at a uniform length. They can also be used with special tapering attachments or combs for blending. Three very common clipper manufacturers are Andis, Oster and Wahl. Andis clippers come with removable blades of different lengths. They have a numbering system to identify the blades to be used for various hair lengths.
